This summer I’ll be participating in the “Nite Markets” (5 – 8) and open mic jams (noon to 3) at Joanne Dozor’s Firefly Gallery, located on New Jersey’s Long Beach Island. The address of this popular year ‘round destination is 15 North Long Beach Blvd., Surf City, NJ 08088. A popular destination year ‘round, the gallery offers a wide variety of programs, events, and exhibits.

I will be at Firefly for the “Nite Market”, 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd and Thursday, June 25th. July dates are Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 23rd.  and August will be on Tuesday the 18th. Call 609-361-7700 or visit www.fireflygallery.com for information and updates.

The only regularly scheduled open to the public event I make it a point to participate in happens once monthly, on the last Tuesday, from 5 to 8 pm.

The location is the Union Market, located at the Tuckerton Seaport in Tuckerton, NJ 08087.

The “Last Stand” is a curated (as opposed to signups performing in order of signing) open mic featuring music, poetry, stand up comedy, and an occasional singing bowl.

The Union Market menu is available, and you’re asked to spend $5 on a barista creation or anything else on their menu.

Participants make themselves known to host Chris Rockwell (a man of many and varied talents) between 5 and 6, when the performances begin.

Arriving before 6 is suggested, as seating is limited to 50 or so, and there is always an enthusiastic audience.
